Liangjiang IP Development on Massive Rise

Patent filings in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area are surging rapidly, local media reported on May 3.

The Liangjiang Intellectual Property (IP) Center received 3,757 patent applications and filed 2,568 patents in 2017. The number of patents owned per 10,000 people reached 12, 4.75 higher than that of Chongqing, a 33 percent boost from last year.

"These figures really say that Liangjiang has been motivating its patent creativity at a rapid pace," said an officer of the local IP center.

As the first national level development area with multiple strategic advantages, Liangjiang New Area has formulated and amended multiple favorable policies to create an innovation-friendly environment.

By now, Liangjiang has supported 1,382 IP products and incubated 106 pilot enterprises.

Meanwhile, Liangjiang enterprises are increasingly aware of guarding their IP rights and have submitted up to 5,000 lawsuits regarding patent violation to the IP court in Liangjiang New Area since 2014.

To tackle the growing number of IP disputes, legal protection is already in position. The Liangjiang New Area Intellectual Property Court has set up a smart platform to tackle copyright infringement in virtue of big data and artificial intelligence.
