According to the Japanese Media, in the Nikkei ranking of AI Patent Top 50, the Chinese enterprises rapidly surpassed the US counterparts during the past three years, thus, expanding their existence in the world’s most eye-catching hi-tech battlefield. During the three years from 2016 to 2018, the number of Chinese enterprises more than doubled in the ranking, from 8 to 19. At the same time, although US companies still firmly occupy the top three, only 12 enterprises are listed in the Top 50.
