Carlsberg granted damage of 1 million in China

Carlsberg recently won a first-instance lawsuit in Beijing where it was granted a damage of RMB1.08 million (USD161K) due to the defendant Shandong Carlsberg's trademark infringement and unfair competition. The damage covered Carlsberg's economic losses and reasonable expenses, including the attorney fees, notarization fees, investigation fees etc. Shandong Carlsberg was also ordered to stop using the confusing trade name Carlsberg and change its corporate name. This case once more demonstrates China's attitude to crack down IP infringement. This case was represented by Chofn attorneys Ms. Shumin He and Mr. Xiaoming Liu.
