On December 25, 2020, the China National IP Administration (CNIPA) announced at its website (http://sbj.cnipa.gov.cn/tzgg/202012/t20201225_324684.html) that as of December 28, 2020 the CNIPA will open online functions for filing trademark oppositions, invalidations and three-consecutive-year non-use cancellations in order to provide more conveniences, improve services to the public, and build good business environment.
After the new functions are open, only two more types of cases are not available for online filing, namely appeal against cancellation decision and appeal against disapproval decision. To date, the CNIPA has made substantial progress to improve its online services and we expect that it will provide full services online in the near future.
